Ending Toxic Relationships

When it comes to a toxic relationship, your mind might have an angel on one side telling you to stay away from your ex, while that little devil on the other side wants to keep a close watch on his whereabouts. Ultimately, you know what the right choice is. Toxic relationships are not just bad, but in some instances can be poisonous. Dealing with them and moving on can be very difficult and even heartwrenching, but it really can be done.

Sure, you can opt for deprecating humor and visit www.mybreakupspace.com (think take-off on MySpace) or google “how to get revenge” all day long. Did you know you can even get your very own free blog space to rant and rave about what a jerk he is at www.mybreakupblog.com? Yeah, maybe if you’re feeling really emotional one day, the break up blog is a good way to vent. But let’s face reality these tactics are just temporary stress toys to bite down on while you deal with your feelings. So what should you do?

Get those tears out. Crying alone in your room could help, but you can surely do better than that. Get those tears out in a movie! Ask a friend or two to watch a movie with you and when the mushy part sets in, cry it all out. Your friends probably wouldn’t care if you cry even by just seeing two polar bears snuggling up, it is a mushy moment after all.

Never call him. Keep in mind that, this relationship was toxic. As much as you may yearn to hear his voice, think of the phone as a transmitter for those poisonous relationship toxins to seep back into your system. The longer you can go without dialing him up or seeing him face-to-face, the stronger you will grow.

List the good things and the bad things about the relationship, then compare. If your relationship is toxic, you definitely will have a long list of bad things, enough to convince you to really end the relationship with him and move on.

Find a sports or any activity for your pent-up energy. Let the stress off your body and do something that’s meaningful for you. Play tennis, learn photography, etc. These activities will make your mind wander about something else and also will let the creativity out in you. Once you’ve done it, you’ll be able to have a much clearer mind and better point of view.

Talk it out. Good friends or family members who care about you are almost always willing to lend an ear, even if you just want to babble to them about what the relationship used to be like. Note: You may want to rotate listeners if you talk a lot, however, to avoid overkill!

Breakup happen to all of us, but they are optional. If you think you can patch the things up with your boyfriend then do something to work the relationship out. Compromise, but do not sell yourself short. Remember, it’s normal to feel bad, annoyed, and even angry when ending toxic relationships… but beating yourself up is too much. If you feel that it won’t really work out, then move on and deal with spending your life without your ex. You can always keep on dating, after all.

Dealing with them and moving on can be very difficult and even heartwrenching, but it really can be done.

Often we feel that we need to let go of our emotions really quick. The quick solution? Get revenge by saying bad things about your boyfriend on your favorite social networking site or on your blog where you can rant and rave about your toxic relationship. But they are just quick solutions and may not make you feel better at all. Here’s a list of the right things to do when you are up to end your toxic relationship.

Get those tears out. Crying alone in your room could help, but you can surely do better than that. Get those tears out in a movie! If you don’t have a hobby, consider trying a new one or taking a new class to learn how to do something creative, something that you can call your own.

Talk it out. Have your good friends, sisters or any family member who care about what you feel. They are those people who are most willing to lend an ear and hear you, even your rants and raves, or just babbling about what the relationship used to be like.

Sadly, breakups will happen in one way or another, and whether we like it or not… but they are optional. Many of us may have to go through a number of breakups to be able to learn how to handle a romantic relationship. It’s not bad to feel sad and it’s definitely okay to dwell on your emotions. Just don’t beat yourself up much. If you are in a toxic relationship, sort things out if you can, if not, deal with it and move on.
