Starting A Window Cleaning Business Is Easy And Inexpensive
Probably one of the easiest businesses to open on your own is the window cleaning business. Generally for this type of business to start up is relatively low cost and it is the type of business that has very little overhead. All you need is your favorite cleaning solution, buckets, a couple of squeegees, brushes and a ladder.
The very first thing you should do once you have your supplies is go around your local neighborhood and visit homes and businesses introducing yourself. You probably should have some business cards with you that you can hand out so that if they would like your services they will know who to contact.
You should do the work yourself until you have a large enough clientele that justifies hiring employees. It is very words you have your techniques down for washing windows before you start training someone else. Best thing you can do is to practice your personal technique on your own windows at home.
One of the best things you can do for the cleaning process is to simply put in a few drops of your favorite cleaning solution into a bucket of water, and use a wet brush and a squeegee on your windows. This is probably one of the best methods and has been used for many years. Unless you have your own personal method it is probably best to stick with this one.
Another reason why this is an ideal business is because you will generally be able to work out of your home even when the business becomes larger. Another advantage is that you can more than likely do your own bookkeeping in your home as well. You can probably save more money by printing your own business cards and billing statements as well. You should probably have a cell phone with you at all times if there will be no one at home to answer business calls. This is far better than having to spend extra money on an answering service.
Depending upon where you live you can probably charge anywhere from twenty five to thirty dollars an hour for your services. Once your business has grown large enough you can probably hire on employees for about a third of that amount and still make pretty good money for yourself.
It is important that you understand the things you can do to help make your business a success. Make sure that you are on the job on time and that you remain consistent with all of your clients. Be focused on what you are doing and make sure you are thorough. Always see that you do the job as best as you can and make sure to try and get the job done when promised. Always remember that missed calls might mean lost business so always get back to a client as soon as you can. Make sure that you keep up with the client and their current needs. It is always nice to let customers know you appreciate them, so adding them to your Christmas or holiday list is always a good idea.
