Lost Horizon: First half hour duplicates 1937 film scene for scene, and everything’s going well. Then we get to Shangri-La and everything goes bad. Jupiter’s Darling: Lavish musical of Robert Sherwood’s Street to Rome, which weighs down in boredom. Williams is a temptress who dallies with Hannibal (Keel) to stop an attack on Rome. Cast includes Esther Williams, Howard Keel, George Sanders, Marge and Gower Victor, and Norma Varden. (96 minutes, 1955)

Alien from L.A.: A California valley girl falls down into a gap and she ends up in the lost city of Atlantis. The movie is as stupid as it sounds. Cast includes Kathy Ireland, Thorn Matthews, William R. Moses, Don Michael Paul, Richard Haines, Linda Kerridge, and Janie du Plessis. (87 minutes, 1987)

The Vows: An astronomically pleasing story of an ambitious youthful Dubliner who takes on the task of constructing and managing a band made up of other Dubliners who harmonize ’60s-type music! Disarmingly involving from them start with a charismatic cast of unknowns, and the film is filled with irresistible music. This film is truly a genuine treat. Cast includes Robert Arkins, Michael Aherne, Angeline Ball, Maria Doyle, Dave Finnegan, Bronagh Gallagher, Felim Gormley, Glen Hansard, Dick Massey, Johnny Murphy, Kenneth McCluskey, Andrew Hefty, and Colm Meaney. Sugarbaby: Its love at first sight for fat mortuary attendant Sagebrecht and subway train driver Swig in this droll romantic satire. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: A typical venture spectacle has Ford in fine form and Connery providing extra panache as Indy’s archaeologist dad, whose bizarre disappearance (when looking for the Holy Grail) sets the tale in motion. This intentionally old fashioned Saturday matinee has everything money can buy, however on no account seriously creates a sense of marvel and enthusiasm. A certain advancement over the second Indiana Jones episode it still bears the mark of one too many (as is the case in most sequels) .
